Sociology (Associate in Arts)
Sociology is a transfer program for students who plan to complete an associate in arts degree at HCC and then transfer to another institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Sociologists study the behavior and dynamics within human groups and social institutions. Career opportunities exist in the areas of social services, criminal justice, education, government, advocacy, law, and research.
Social Work (Associate in Arts)
Social Work is a transfer program for students who plan to complete an associate in arts degree at HCC and then transfer to another institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree in an area of human or community services. Social workers help people, often poor or disadvantaged, function in their social environment. Employment opportunities exist for service in child and public welfare, substance abuse, schools, corrections, disabilities, health care, mental health, community organization, policy and planning, administration, and research.
