Clubs

Ag Club

Promotes agriculture and serves as a fraternal group on campus where agriculture students can exchange and share ideas about common interests, farming, and life. Activities include field trips to events such as the Midwestern Farm Show, Garst Seed Company, Moorman Feed Company, and Fermenta Animal Health. Another highlight is the Ag Olympics sponsored by the club each year. Membership is open to any student enrolled at HCC.

Art Club

Is composed of Highland Community College art and photography students. This student-governed organization plans events and field trips that enhance the students' art education. Members raise money through various activities such as selling artworks and ceramic projects to help pay for trips to see art museums. Recent trips have included traveling to New York, Chicago, and Kansas City. To be a member of this club, a student must be enrolled in at least one studio art class.

Athletic Training Club

Educates students to the opportunities available in the field of athletic training, and other sports related careers. Students participate in fundraiser and meet monthly.

Business Professionals of America (BPA)

Prepares students for the business workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills. By integrating its programs into the business classroom, Business Professionals of America builds leadership, professionalism, poise, dependability, patriotism, and competency in business students. It is for any student who is currently enrolled in a business, office, business education course or program. BPA Chapters are located at all levels of education from middle schools to the university level. Some activities that members will participate in include helping at the food pantry, selling food items for fundraiser's, trips to Kansas City for a meal on the Plaza, and attending state and national competitions.

Gender & Sexuality Alliance

The GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance) is a student organization, which functions as a welcoming and safe environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and ally (LGBTQA) students and staff.  The group provides support, education and leadership to the Highland College community.  The group meets bi-weekly and is open to any who wish to provide and/or receive support. 

Highland Players

Is the name of the theatre club on the HCC campus. Each year, this ensemble does fundraising through special play performances or other events using theatrical skills. These funds are then used to help pay registration and hotel fees to attend theatre festivals or other theatre-related events. Past theatre festivals attended were the American College Theatre Festival and the Association of Kansas Theatres. Any Highland Community College student can be a member of the Highland Student Theatre Company (HSTC) ensemble and attend the weekly board meetings.  Interested students are encouraged to contact HSTC advisor Graham Cooper at 442-6089.

​International Club

The International Club brings students together on campus that live international and domestic, to foster a fellowship and provide a link between Highland students and the Northern Kansas Community.  We promote international intercultural awareness through social and education activities.  

Kansas National Education - Student Program (KNEA-SP)

Is a club for students interested in pursuing a career in education. The club will provide an opportunity for students to help with activities within Doniphan County schools. Activities will include tutorial programs, academic contests, athletic events, and other extracurricular activities that give the education major an opportunity to work with students. The club is open to all students.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL)

Is a post-secondary division of FBLA-PBL, Inc. It is dedicated to assisting individuals in becoming responsible leaders.  The development of business and leadership skills through various conferences and workshops help equip these individuals with the necessary skills to become successful business leaders.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) 

Is an international honor society for two-year colleges. Membership is based on academic achievement. Eligibility requirements include a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and at least 12 credit hours completed at Highland Community College. Transfer scholarships are available at four-year schools for members when they transfer. Chapter activities are based on Phi Theta Kappa's four hallmarks of Scholarships, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship.

Scottie Prints

Scottie Prints is a publication club designed for creative individuals. Most recently we have been focused on creative writing, but we encourage all forms of expression for publication on our new website. Whether you excel at art, creative writing, graphic design, or photography, we encourage you to join. Scottie Prints meets bi-weekly in downstairs Yost Hall. Skills USA

Offers opportunities to develop both leadership and vocational skills and to test a student’s skills in competition at local, state and national levels. Officers are elected early in the school year and several standing committees coordinate the various activities during the year. Members can seek office at the local, district, state and national level and have the opportunity to meet other students from throughout the state at leadership conferences and other events. The Vocational Initiative and Club Achievement Program is a part of the Skills USA program and awards recognition for the various levels of achievement in both leadership and industrial skills and uses members of departmental advisory boards to evaluate proficiency in these areas. Social functions and active competition in local, state and national contests are exciting phases of this organization.

Student Senate at HCC Technical Center

A Student Senate, consists of two representatives chosen from each department. The Senate’s purposes are to promote student activities, share students points of view, provide services to the college and community, and to promote cooperation among students in all departments. Student representatives are responsible for attending meetings and communicating Senate business to the other members of their class. Each year senate members decide what activities they will sponsor. Past activities have included the following: Floats in area parades, Tech-Ed Week promotions, and college picnics. Three officers are elected to lead the club and committees are appointed as needed.

Student Government Association (SGA)

Is a student leadership organization at Highland Community College that acts as a voice between the students and the administration. The organization offers the students opportunity to participate in mentoring programs, community service projects, and planning the growth of HCC. As a member of student government, you will help plan homecoming activities, Spring Formal, monthly campus entertainment and participate in leadership conferences and fundraising. Membership is open to any student enrolled at HCC. We look forward to having you as part of our HCC leadership voice.
