Highland Community College Western Center in Baileyville, KS is in it's 6th academic year. The Western Center is ready to serve students in and around the Nemaha and Marshall County portions of Northeast Kansas and Southeast Nebraska. After receiving a Federal Title III grant to expand educational access to the area's rural communities, the HCC Western Center plans to serve traditional and non-traditional students alike. (More info on the grant is available at: http://highlandcc.edu/pages/title-iii_0.) Students may choose to live at home while pursuing a college degree. Even high school juniors and seniors can take advantage of our technical programs during the school day. Numerous Allied Health and general education courses leading to certificates and degrees are being offered. Opportunities in Precision Ag, Engineering Graphics, and Manufacturing Technology are now available!
We currently offer six technical programs - Construction Technology, Diesel Technology, Industrial Welding Technology, Medical Office Assistant, Engineering Graphics and Technologies, and Precision Agriculture. We will continue to offer Allied Health courses including CNA, CMA, and EMT; and courses in Manufacturing Technology that include OSHA 10 training, Precision Measurement, Blueprint Reading and Technical Math. Also, available is course work in the Human Services field and Early Childhood Education. Times for technical programs are: morning session - 8:00 a.m. to 11:07 a.m. and afternoon session - 12:00 p.m. and 3:07 p.m. Additionally, individual technical classes may be listed in the evening.
We have a variety of day time and evening general education courses in the traditional face-to-face format, as "hybrid" classes with a portion of the coursework completed online, and via the Interactive Distance Learning classroom. Access this link to see the courses currently scheduled for: Fall 2021 (Note: schedule is subject to change.)
