What Were You Wearing and Take Back the Night at Highland Community College the week of April 8
published April 9, 2019This week students at the Highland campus and members of the community can take part in events to promote sexual assault awareness month. All events are free and open to the community.

The exhibit may contain sensitive subject matter for some viewers.
The traveling exhibit features stories from sexual assault survivors accompanied by recreations of what the survivor was wearing when the assault occurred. “These stories remind us that regardless of the outfit assault can happen to anyone and it’s not what is to blame,” said Courtney Freeman Counselor at Highland Community College and event organizer of the outfits.
Take Back the Night
Peuker Plaza on the Highland Campus of HCC
Friday, April 12, 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Take Back the Night will feature stories, testimonials from students and a candlelight vigil for survivors of assault. Guest speaker will include staff from the Care Center in Lawrence, KS, as well as social worker, millennial coach, and survivor Robin Helget.
