The Highland Community College women’s cross country team finished in seventh place at the Emporia State University Invitational Meet last Friday.
The 17th nationally ranked Scotties scored 184 team points to finish in the top ten. Fort Hays State University won the team title with 66 team points. Unattached runner Kayli Hrdlicka won the meet with a time of 18:00.6.
Sophomore Mary Kate Taylor (Chillicothe, MO) was once again the front runner for the Scotties with a 12th place finish in 19:02.9. Freshmen Hanna Olson (St. Joseph, MO) and Mandy Wilson (Auburn) were Highland’s second and third scorers. Olson finished in 26th place with a time of 19:42.8 while Wilson was the 40th place finisher in 20:08.6. Freshman Crystal Hoard (Randolph) finished in 69th place in 20:59.6 while fellow first-year runner Veronica Gallegos (St. Marys) was the 76th place runner in 21:13.2.
