The Highland Community College volleyball team captured its first Jayhawk Conference win Wednesday night against Allen County. The Scotties won a hard fought battle in four sets, 25-23, 25-22, 15-25, 25-23. Each set, the Scotties had to fight back from a deficit of four points or more to stay in the match. Allen put up a good fight and played a very close match.
Erica Rottinghaus (Seneca) led the team with 15 kills, two blocks, and two aces. McKayla Brezina (Seneca) also added eight kills, three solo blocks, and two block assists. “This was a match where everyone contributed in some way. When called from the bench, each player responded to help the team. We fought until the very end,” commented Coach Gaddis.
The volleyball team would like to thank all the fans who attended the True Blue night. Your support is what made this win possible. The next home match for the Scotties will be Wednesday, October 3, against Cowley College. Please come support the Scottie Nation as they try to knock off the #1 team in nation in Division II. Match time is set for 5:30 pm in Allen Field House.
