On their fifth straight National Tournament appearance under Coach Heidi Jordan, the Highland Community College softball squad earned the fourth seed and will begin play on Wednesday, May 14, at 1:30 pm when they take on the 13 seed, Oakland Community College from Oakland County, Michigan. The games from Traceway Park in Clinton, Mississippi are available on video streaming and can be accessed from the College Web site at www.highlandcc.edu (look for the National Tournament banner that will rotate at the top of the page).
Fellow Jayhawk Conference member Cowley Community College is seeded sixth. The top five are LSU Eunice (Louisiana), Jones County Junior College (Mississippi ), Illinois Central College, Highland, and Des Moines Area Community College. The remainder of the field is Cowley (6), Mercyhurst North East, PA (7), Scottsdale, AZ (8), Kankakee, IL (9), Lincoln Land, IL (10), Black Hawk, IL (11), Kalamazoo Valley, MI (12), Oakland, MI (13), CCBC-Catonsville, MD (14), East Central, MS (15), and Delaware Tech – Owens, DL (16).
The National Tournament has a double elimination format and will proceed through Saturday, with the Championship Game at 1:30 PM.
