The Highland Community College softball team won both games in the second round of the NJCAA District Tournament on Sunday after a postponement of games from Saturday. Russell and Joann Karn will be providing video streaming of all the Scottie softball games in the Tournament. The 34-8 Scotties opened the second round with 23-20 Dodge City and came back to win 3-2. The other two teams in the double elimination format were 33-14 Labette and 23-30 Brown Mackie. Labette won that game and faced the Scotties in the second game on Sunday, which the Scotties won 3-1, again with a comeback effort.
Monday, the Scotties will face the winner of a second Labette/Brown Mackie game which will take place at 10:00. The HCC Alumni Association will be hosting a tailgate party starting at 11:00 prior to the Championship game which will be at noon at Hummer Sport Park in Topeka. If the Scotties should lose that game, they will face Labette again to determine the Championship at 2:00.
