Scottie Men Finish in 10th Place at Region Meet
The Highland Community College men’s cross country team finished in 10th place at the Region VI Meet held last Saturday at Johnson County Community College.
The Scotties finished with 246 team points. Colby Community College won the team title with 44 points. George Gathuru from Cloud County won the individual title with a time of 25:06.9.
Freshmen Brett Simshauser (Cuba, Mo.) led the Scotties with a 34th place finish in 27:23.0. Freshman Miguel Hernandez (Del Valle, Tex.) finished in 48th place in 27:51.6. Freshman Seth Parres (O’Fallon, Mo.) finished in 52nd place while sophomore Tim Borger (Eudora) was the 53rd place finisher. Sophomore Derek Wright (McLouth) finished in 59th place with a time of 28:35.5.
The Scotties next travel to the NJCAA Division I Cross Country National Championship Meet held at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois on Saturday, November 10. The meet begins at 10:00 a.m.
