Coach Tom Bond’s women’s track squad traveled to Garden City to compete in the 2016 NJCAA Region VI/Jayhawk Conference Outdoor Track Championships and came away with a championship in the 4x400 relay. Members of the 4x400 relay team were Elicia Gallegos (Rio Rancho, NM), Kyelah Hodges (Monticello, AR), Alison Nutt (New London, TX), and Jasmine Segrest (San Antonio, TX).
The 4x400 relay earned All-Region and All-Conference designations, and Elicia Gallegos received All-Region in the 400 meter run. Another relay team, the 4x100, was named All-Conference, as was Chelsea Gabriel in the 400 meter hurdles. The 4x100 relay team consisted of Elicia Gallegos, Kyelah Hodges, Alison Nutt, and Selia Robinson (Osceola, FL).
Others placing in the Region and the Conference were Jennifer Hall (Highland), 8th in the Conference and 15th in the Region in the 1500 meter run; Ashley Perez (Keenesburg, CO) was 6th in the Conference and 16th in the Region in the long jump and 6th and 11th in the triple jump; Selia Robinson was 10th and 20th in the 100 meter run; Gisel Santiago (Kissimmee, FL) was 4th and 11th in the 800 meter run; Stephanie Summerville (Braymer, MO) also placed in two events, 12th and 23rd in the 100 meter and 13th and 16th in the 400 meter; and Ja’Chel Wood (Sabetha) was 4th and 8th in the discus.
