The Highland Community College women’s cross country team recently competed in the NJCAA Division I National Cross Country Championship held on the Rend Lake Golf Course at the Rend Lake Resort in Ina, IL. This was the largest event to date for a National Championship with 40 teams and 64 colleges represented by the 343 runners who competed.
Highland finished in18th place, the first Top Twenty finish in recent history. Mary Kate Taylor, a sophomore from Chillicothe, MO, was designated a Division I NJCAA Cross Country Coaches Association All American with a 16th place finish.

Taylor and Hannah Olson, a freshman from St. Joseph, MO, also achieved All Conference in the Jayhawk this year, as well as All Region VI Division I. The Scottie women are coached by Tom Bond, who was recently named Region VI Coach of the Year by his coaching peers.
