Selecting the best nursing school in Kansas can be difficult. To make the process easier, RegisteredNursing.org, recommends that interested students first look for a school that supports students towards licensure and beyond. A great way to measure this is through NCLEX-RN pass rates. Consequently, RegisteredNursing.org has ranked the top 10 nursing schools in Kansas by analyzing current and historical NCLEX-RN pass rates, meaning the percentage of graduates who pass the exam, out of the 36 RN programs in the state. Nursing programs were assessed on several factors which represent how well a program supports students towards licensure and beyond. For example, we analyzed past and present NCLEX-RN “pass-rates” - weighted by year. You can learn more about the methodology used here: http://www.registerednursing.org/rn-ranking-methodology/.
Programs reviewed include schools that offer an Associate in Nursing (ADN/ASN), BSN, or Direct-Entry MSN Degree. The Highland Community College Nursing Program is currently ranked seventh of the 36 programs.
Limited by the state in the number of student nurses in the program, Highland Director of Nursing Jane Zaccardi and her faculty can currently accept 40 nursing students in the Practical Nursing Program (LPN) and 20 nursing students in the LPN to RN Completion Program which results in an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). Graduation rates for the two areas are high, with an average of 37 in the LPN program and 20 in the Completion program in the last three years, as well as high pass rates on the national nursing exam (NCLEX-RN) – 100 percent of the 2014 RN grads, the only program in the state to accomplish that rare feat.
