When he assumed the role of Director of Athletics at Highland Community College on July 1, Tyler Nordman knew he wanted to expand the brand of Scottie athletics. One way to do that was to enhance the athletic web pages on the College website. Or he could follow what other colleges have done and establish a new, separate athletic website. As the result of his efforts, supported by the College’s Institutional Advancement Office, scottieathletics.com, in conjunction with Sidearm Sports, launched on September 1.
The new Scottie athletic website is stand alone at scottieathletics.com and also can be accessed through the College website. The new site will provide much more information about Highland athletics – both current and historical – than the former athletic pages. The format of the new site will allow Nordman and his staff to provide up-to-date statistics shortly after each athletic contest, coach, player, and team profiles, season forecasts, and live streaming.
In addition to the new website, Nordman has created a Monday evening sports talk show with coaches and players – Scottie Sports Talk -- that is available through live streaming on the new site. This show has its own logo and promises to be another promising avenue to promote the Highland athletic brand. Information about these two new endeavors can be obtained from Nordman at tnordman@highlandcc.edu or his assistant, Alison Cole, at acole@highlandcc.edu.
