Almost 100 people signed up for the First Annual Scottie Dog Dash, a 4K obstacle run that was the creation of Tyler Nordman, Director of Student Activities at Highland Community College. Nordman created the obstacle run around and into the wooded creek area of the College’s Klinefelter Farm. The obstacles included a canine climb, boneyard crossing, dog cage crawl, dirty dog slide, lucky dog leap, and other challenges designed to unleash the beast in the participants. Participants ranged in age from below 10 to late 50’s.
Participants started in groups of 25 that included members of the public, the Scottie men’s and women’s basketball teams and members of the women’s track team. Participants received a commemorative t-shirt and enjoyed lunch following the completion of the Dash. Nordman was pleased with the day and is already making plans for an improved Second Annual Scottie Dog Dash.
