The events for this week’s Homecoming festivities as Highland Community College have been announced by Brad Dixon, Coordinator of Student Life for the College. Homecoming activities will start on Monday, October 8, with Dig Pink Night at the Highland volleyball match with Coffeyville Community College in Allen Field House on the HCC campus at 5:30 pm. Fans are encouraged to show up to the game in their DIG PINK shirt and receive a coupon for one free hunk of pizza from Scottie Pause.
Events for the remainder of the week include:
Tuesday, October 9, Mind Tripping, a show that breaks the rules of reality and will always keep you guessing, at 7:00 pm in Culbertson Auditorium
Wednesday, October 10, Put It Where You Want It T-Shirts, from 5:00-11:00 pm, in the Walters Wellness Center, will allow you to create your own t-shirt, just like it sounds.
Thursday October 11, Distracted Driving Simulator, from 12:00 to 6:00 pm, in the Walters Wellness Center. The Save a Life Tour comes in and sets up a driving simulator that students can drive in while the simulator makes them feel under the influence. According to information from the Save a Life Tour, their simulators are the nation’s most advanced high-impact alcohol awareness program.
Our multi-million dollar drinking and driving simulators are the only ones in the nation that give participants a completely realistic, sober perspective on the effects of driving while intoxicated. With massive tour posters on display, high intensity videos rolling on huge monitors, and our charismatic show presenters engaging both participants and onlookers alike, no one that experiences the Save a Life Tour will leave unaffected.
The annual Aggie Olympics will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday in the Park next to the baseball field. Different ag related events will be held where students can win prizes, including an egg toss, milk chug, and hay bale toss.
Then the Fall Vocal Music Concert will be performed at 7:30 pm in Culbertson Auditorium.
Saturday October 13, Alumni events begin at 11:00 when the College hosts its Golden Graduates, the fifty year class of 1962. The Homecoming football game will feature the Scotties and the Broncbusters of Garden City Community College at 1:00 pm on Kessinger Field. Homecoming 2012 will come to an end with a repeat performance of the Fall Vocal Music Concert at 7:30 pm in Culbertson Auditorium.
