Highland Helps Provide Healthy Holiday Hampers

\r\n On Thursday, through the coordination of its Thanksgiving Food Hamper Committee, Highland Community College employees on the Highland campus donated over 28 baskets of Thanksgiving food, and Highland’s other campuses donated the equivalent of four more, making it possible for area families to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

All the donated food was delivered to local social-services agencies.  For the Highland campus, that was the Doniphan County Aging Department, which operates several to the local area.  They distribute through local offices in Highland, Troy, Wathena, and Elwood.   Aging Department staff member Joi Davies expressed a big “Thank you” from the approximately 30 families who now have a pleasant, nutritious, and traditional Thanksgiving meal to look forward to.

The Thanksgiving Hamper Committee at the College includes sociology instructor Robert Brainerd, speech instructor Theresa Grossman, mathematics instructor Margie Heddens, business instructor Linda Switzer, chemistry instructor Stephen Wuerz (Chair), and business instructor Laura Young.
