Highland Community College Fine Arts Department will feature a play, Hello & Goodbye Hansel and Gretel, for young and old opening Tuesday, April 23 in the Culbertson Theatre.
In this wry, farcical revision of the classic fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel once again find themselves lost in the forest. This time, however, the siblings come across characters from other fairy tales who both hinder and help their journey, including a wicked stepfather, three obnoxious pigs, a wolf, Sleeping Beauty, and of course, the evil witch. Audience participation is a crucial piece of this presentation. The play is geared towards families and young audiences and area elementary students will attend performances.
Sam Smith Director of Theater at HCC commented, “This is a great opportunity for students to experience the joy of audience participation with children and this fun-filled play. They navigate the tricky waters of storytelling and get instant feedback.”
The show is directed by Sam Smith. Hello & Goodbye Hansel and Gretel, plays at HCC’s Culbertson Auditorium Theatre, on the HCC campus. As always, there is no charge for admission. For additional information, please call 785-442-6089, or email at smsmith@highlandcc.edu
