Want to run, but you aren’t sure how to get started? Need motivation? Need a partner to run with you? The Highland Community College Walters Wellness Center staff and the Health and Wellness Coordinator from the Northeast Kansas Multi-County Health Department will team up for a summer running program to provide you with what you need.
The running program will kick off on Tuesday, May 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the Walters Wellness Center. There will be an informational meeting with packets for each runner. This running program is free of cost to the participants. After the meeting, the group will go for a short run to get the season rolling.
The running program will meet every Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m and Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. at Walters Wellness Center to run. You are not required to run any of these times, but the opportunity will be available for you to run with other people with the same goal. The ultimate goal of the program is to get beginning runners to complete a local ½ marathon after Labor Day. The approximately 14 week running program will help runners at all stages to get out and go. A mid season 5K/10K will also be an opportunity for the group to run.
Walkers and all levels of runners are welcome. Come join the fun and run. For more information, contact Angie Eberly/Judy Fuemmeler 442-6140 at the Walters Wellness Center or NEK Health and Wellness Coordinator Wendy Simmons at 741-0833.
